Were there in October and had agreat experience with our friend's Norm and Angie.The staff were friendly and most helpful.Sam&Joan enjoyed their time at the Walker House and would come to the establishment again and recommend it to friend's.
Great patio,Great food from previous visits,Walked out after no service,We went to watch sunset, came back and sat inside and had a great meal with good service.The waitress apologised for the earlier lack of service.
Last year we visited the Walker House, and walked out after 1 hour waiting for our food, the waitress ignored us in favor of the drinking parties at near by tables. After 20 min. she came to take our order, and it was another hour of waiting and still no food, so we got up to walk out. I approached the waitress to tell her to cancell the order and she told me it was too late because it was ready to come out. I walked out anyway.
We decided last night to try again. I had been a year and perhaps it was an isolated incident. I was wrong. We ordered the Buffet at $18.99 per plate. The roast beef was the only meat that had any taste. The pork was undercooked and you could not cut it or chew it. The rice was tasteless, the salad bar consisted of an array of bean salads, rusty lettuce, and pasta salads that could have come out of a pail. There was no mashed potatoes, only some mini roasted potatoes which were tasty, but like everything else on the hot table they were not hot.
We were ignored by the waitress after she served our drinks, and it took 5 minutes to get her attention to get a glass of water. I watched as the girl who was slicing the roast beef, go from cleaning tables and serving , and back to the roast beef, without even once washing her hands. One server was working the cash register, and went directly to packaging a doggy bag for a customer with her bare hands again without washing her hands. When it came time to pay, my partner waited at the till for 10 minutes while at least 6 employees ignored him. When he finally did get rang up, the girl had the nerve to ask him if he wanted the change back. Him being a shy man, she put him on the spot infront of another cutstomer so he let her keep the change, even though we had already decided to not leave a tip.
Is it not rude to ask for a tip, shouldn't it be left up to the customer to leave a tip on the table discreatly?
We will never go to this resturant again. I will be sure to pass this review on to all my friends.
Best beef, fresh salads and apple dumplings anywhere, here! Portion sizes are huge, everything IS homemade.
Service sometimes needs to 'catch up', but I was surprised to read other ratings and see them so low for this price range.
