Change to hepatitis serology and Lp(a) testing (British Columbia)
Testing for Lp(a) and several hepatitis serology tests, including anti-HAV IgM, anti-HBc total, anti-HBs, and HBsAg screen, that were previously sent to LifeLabs, will be tested in house, using different methodology, as of February 24th, 2025. There will be no changes in confirmation testing. Samples that report positive for anti-HAV IgM or HBsAg will be sent to BCCDC for confirmation testing, as previous.

Centralization of CBC testing in the Okanagan
Effective July 8th, 2024, all CBC samples collected in South Okanagan will be directed to and processed at our Kelowna Laboratory. It is anticipated that this change will have minimal to no impact on current turn- around-time and reporting. In situations of inclement weather or if a STAT CBC result is required, healthcare providers in South Okanagan are advised to direct patients to the nearest hospital laboratory.
