My brother and sisterinlaw brought us here for a nice afternoon lunch (1:30 pm) for our wedding. Service was excelent and forrd wonderful. We had a nice bottle of wine. Soup, salads, cheese platter , pasta , pulled pork sandwich all was delicious. No rush and attentive service when WE needed it, server was good to respect when we were talking and their when we needed her.
Well the food was spectacular, as usual. Bruschetta was fresh. The fried perch was hot and crunchy and came with their yummy frites and side house salad that had a dressing to die for, I dipped everything into it. But...dinner took 2 and a half hours! It took almost 20 minutes for the waiter to even acknowledge our existence (and we had a reservation). There seemed to be about 20 minutes between everything served and we were famished by the time dinner actually came. When we ordered coffee with our desserts, they came without spoons and one of my party actually had to get up and retrieve utensils from the supply table behind us. Then again, another 20 minutes went by after dessert till I finally just went up to the till to pay where our waiter seemed surprised we wanted our bills! My fiance and I had the same waiter on Valentines Day and the service was the same. Understandable if they were short staffed or busy...but they were neither. The only thing that keeps me going back is the food. Find a new waiter!!!!
Have eaten here a few times and it's always reliable. The pizzas are hearty with good toppings. The salads are good (although the Caesar disappoints). Pasta dishes have been well done. Sandwiches are excellent. Superb wine list and really excellent coffee. Reasonably priced. The service is always spot on.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Ptbo. In the last three years of regular visits, I have never been disappointed. -Service is attentive, but not intrustive or rushed. -Food shows attention to detail and care. The dipping sauce for the fries are awesome, and the vegetables could be a meal themselves. -Lots of vegetarian offerings, but great meat/seafood dishes too. -Ever changing and interesting specials. The menu changed recently, with some new additions, but please bring back the calimari.
Stopped in to Brio's, it had been a while since we had been in. It was the middle of the week and the place was not busy. However, the food was excellent, the staff was very attentive, without hovering over us. We felt we got good value for what we paid. Will certainly go again.
I took my daughter out to celebrate her 30th birthday. We had attentive service, and the meal was outstanding. From appetizers to the main courses, all the dishes had flair and tasty, fresh ingredients. We definitely would go back, it was delicious and fair value. The food is definitely the draw--upscale choices in a comfortable atmosphere.
I recently went on a date to this place. To start off, my date never made it; she had car trouble. Once I got word of that after three hours of waiting, I was already pretty hungry, so I stayed and ate alone... I don't know what their usual Wednesdays are like, but the place was pretty empty on this night. The moment I sat down, I got this weird vibe. After a while, I notice that's because the decor and layout of the restaurant made no sense to me at all. I could've sworn that from the name and the menu that this place was supposed to be italian style or mediterranian styled at the least, But instead it seemed more western-themed with its bare wood floors, barn doors on the one wall, and there was even a handsaw hanging above a doorway. However, they did have one wall covered in wine racks and the bar seemed to mirror that. Although I did say it was nearly empty, I did however expect a quaint little establishment, but instead I found the place really oversized and the layout of the rooms and tables seemed random at best. As for the food, it was okay, I didn't really like their house salad and the pizza was a little overdone. Overall, I think they need to bring in that celebrity chef, Chef Ramsey to give the place a second wind.
Hubby and I went for lunch on Saturday. Menu is limited and slightly over priced. Our food was excellent and served fairly quickly. Not much in the way of decor. Server wasn't overly busy but didn't visit the table to check on us. No problem switching the fries and sweet potato fries between our orderes.
We recently attended Brio with a large group of friends. Friends with whom we don't get to spend nearly enough time out with, so it was very mportant that we selected the right restaurant. Unfortunately my choice was Brio since the last half dozen times we'd been there the food, service and ambience had been great. The restaurant and menu we're completely redone. It felt like a chain restaurant with fine dining prices. The appetizers we're alright but nothing special. The meals took almost an hour to arrive and then several of them were wrong. When the waiter was made aware of one wrong order (pesto on the chicken, that was requested to be left off) the waiter suggested we just scrape it off. Only one person out of 14 was happy with their meal. The ambience in restaurant used to be warm, comfortable and inviting, when we were in at 8pm to lights were up full and you could barely hear any music. Brio Gusto used to be the restaurant we suggested to everyone and attended frequently ourselves but we will never be back. If they had failed in one area and not every area it would have been different.
The food was fantastic. This was my first time there and I'll be back for sure.
House Ale was dark and delightful with a citrusy flavour... I loved it. The Parm Sandwich- mayo on side was awesome. The veggies were roasted to perfection- could have eaten just the breaded eggplant, it was so tasty. Fries are seasoned and amazing in the spicy dip... House salad was good, loved the dried cranberries. I wouldnt change a thing about this meal or the service. It was quick, freindly and helpful. I will return again and again for a meal and pint for under $20. Thanks!!!
This is a great place, and the food was awesome. The service was great, friendly and very quick. Everyone in my party really enjoyed their food. I will definatly be back
i thought the resturant was overall good. They do good work in the kitchen but the waitresses were rude to my beautiful wife, linda, and becuase of that i will never return to this resturant. Compliments to the Chef though.
Absolutely loved the atmosphere accompanied by a gourmet menu and fantastic wine selection. Our meals were deliscious and the presentation devine. The portions were fair and wholesome. We had the rare experience of not being stuffed with bread. Thank goodness because the dessert menu was not to be missed. It was a tough decision but the Pear crumble didnt dissapoint: garnished with home made bananna brandy ice cream and a wide variety of fresh fruits. This is an excellent restaurant for special occasions however be prepared to spend alittle more than at Harveys.
It's too bad that the competiton for fine dining and great service in this town has left this place in the dust. We have dined there probably 10 times but the last 3 times have been a disappointment. I gave them the benefit of the doubt but our last experience was awful and it will be just that..... our last experience. Salad not fresh with blackened edges on the romaine and mostly lettuce and no vegies. And what is a greek salad with only two olives.? We left the lettuce on our plate for the waiter to see and he made no comment. My duck was ok but the potatoes were luke warm to cold. The vegies were tasty though. It was my husband's steak that was the reason we will not be returning. He ordered the steak special for 24.95. Medium. It was served rubbery raw red. with cold pototoes. He sent it back and they cooked the meat for a little while longer. So as I was eating my duck dinner and quickly cos it wasn't that hot, he sat there and waited for his steak to return. It came back and it was exactly the same, raw in the middle and they didn't even reheat his potatoes which were the same on his plate and by this time ice cold. In the meantime I had finished my duck. He sent his steak back again after eating the edges and the waiter seemed peeved!! Anyway it came back again!! only this time it was still uncooked and the potatoes were inedible and the vegies were cold!! Disgusting!! They did not deduct any cost from our bill which was over $127!! The wine was good but way overpriced!! We didn't order dessert and left with a sour taste in our mouth for what use to be a great place to eat. I will not recommend this place to anyone and as a matter of fact will tell everyone not to go there.
Tried this restaurant for our anniversary; we will not go back. Our appetizer was their brushcette which is not tomatoe based and we didn't like it. Didn't eat it...and it was not removed from our bill. The meal was ok - we both tried something new but it wasn't anything to write home about. I had cobbler for dessert and bit down on a piece of plastic, complained to waiter and did not finish the dessert - this also was not removed from our bill. A little customer service would have gone a long way in our opinion of this restaurant. But as it stands the best thing we had that night was the bottle of wine.
Terrible, Terrible, Terrible, we were not impressed with the quality of food the attitude of the waitress and the wine was not to our liking. We are boater's from Toronto and we do not reccommened this establishment. Cast off!!!
Terrible food, service by the worst female server with an attitude and th e wine that was recommened was not what it was described (their pick, not mine). A waste of time and money. Never been here and never again!!!
First time at Brio Gusto's even though we had hear lots of good things about it. Had the duck with a blueberry sauce. It was amazing. The server/waiter recommended a wine(I can't remember the name)but it was an excellent choice and complimented the meal well. Overall - one the best restaurant meal my husband and I have had in a while. It was a little bit more that we usually spend on a meal, but it was certainly worth it. It wasn't too busy when we were there, so the service was excellent.
Loved it. My favourite restaurant in Peterborough. Small, intimate, fabulous food, very knowledgeable wait staff, great wine list. No pushing to have you finish your meal and leave. They make sure to bring your courses when YOU are ready for it. Leaves lots of time for a leisurely dinner with lots of conversation. Great ambiance. As good as any posh downtown TO restaurant.
