I will come back as there was nothing wrong with the food... a tad pricey for sandwiches! The only thing I did not like was when deciding on a beverage the waitress noticed that my husband and I were unsure of the bottles on the counter and being new there we didnt realize there was a fountain drink machine on the other side of the counter... the waitress however did not mention that either and we ended up paying 8$ for 2 ridiculously sized lemonades from france that tastes like water and sweetner...not impressed. Also I did not like the pasta salad at all... found it to be sweet and kind of gross however maybe others enjoy it! I will continue to go back and try other items on the menu as I did enjoy my first visit!
Many people have complained about the layout and service at Artisano, but I have to say, after regularly going to the Burlington location since it opened 4-5 years ago, and having tried the Oakville location, I don't expect much service-wise and the seating and the line-ups are different at both locations. Its a cafe, not a "restaruant" so don't expect much in terms of service/layout. The food is almost never consistent though. I tend to have half-salad/half-sandwich and sometimes the salad is drowning in dressing. Other times, the salads are just barely dressed. Yet other times they're a perfect balance. The sandwiches are usually good, however, I've had pannis that are soaked on the bottom from juices of veggies (and doesn't taste that great), pannis with chicken so dry I have to wonder if they even cover the cooked chicken, and pannis that are perfectly cooked. Like I said - very inconsistent. You never know what kind of plate you'll get till you pick it up and taste it. Don't expect service once you're at your table though, and don;t expect your order to always follow what you have requested. But, for the flavour and for knowing that the meals _can_ be good and usually are quick to be made, I return often.
The food is great but man, figure out where customers are supposed to line up and give them some direction. I was there on a busy day and customers were lined up in the narrow walkway that goes right between people's tables meaning you're sitting there and someone is standing practically on top of you. It's like eating lunch on a subway car. Then to top it off, customer's think that's how you get back to the other tables as well so they try to squeeze through which is almost impossible. An older woman with a walker had to get through so I bunch of us had to get out of line just so she could fit through.
Poor planning to say the least.
Food was good but I did feel sick later but can't conclusively say the two were related.
Been to the Artisano's in Burlington and had no problems so logically thought there would be no problems with the one in Oakville. Wrong.
The first time we order the turkey and brie sandwich and the turkey, provolone and bacon sandwich. The cashier assured us that we got a pickle with our sandwich and even said she double checked to make sure. Upon getting our food we found out we didnt get said pickle and would have to pay an extra charge, even though our meal just came to about 23 dollars combined. We thought its just a pickle, although its principle, in the big picture no need to sweat about it and left it at that.
The second time is the reason we wont be coming back with the same poor service. My girlfriend had a night of long studying ahead and she enjoys their food, I thought i would pick up her sandwich she likes from same location in oakville. Placed the order for the turkey and brie sandwich and being the only one in line, the sandwich was ready quickly and in a brown bag for takeout. half hour later to her house, i gave her the sandwich which she opens and its the wrong one. Its turkey, asiago cheese and roasted vegetables, even though the reciept shows "turkey brie sandwich" and the cook even said "heres your turkey and brie sandwich" when handing me the bag. The service is poor and for a higher price for food and i believe good customer service is the cornerstone of any good franchise.
There is nothing wrong with the food, it is fresh aswell as good combinations. The oakville location has much to be desired with its service and its location. Stick to the burlington location, easy to get in and out and no problems (having been there 5 times atleast)
Great for a quick and fresh lunch. Love the chicken ceaser salad, and the bread that comes with it is so fresh and delicious. Love the iced cappucino that they make fresh when you order it.
