Great food; pleasant and attentive employees, low cost. I recommend the restaurant.
If you consider canned corn, frankfurters, onion rings, and potatoes Canadian-Chinese food then you'll probably like Beijing Gardens Buffet. This is on the lunch menu. I haven't tried the dinner menu. Since the restaurant changed hands in August 2014 everything has gone downhill. Even the so-called Chinese style food is poor quality. This is definitely not a restaurant that I could or would recommend.
Cheap food in a dumpy restaurant. They changed the name, and say in the TV ad that they have renovated but it is still a dump. Dirty walls, cluttered , unswept, unwashed, unwiped, and that's just the bathroom. The owner's entire extended family with kids was hanging out at the junk cluttered bar, but cleaning tables or doing anything to make the place less squalid was not going to happen. Signs for "Soup" "Deserts" "Salad" looked like they were done by an 8 year old with a crayon.
We have been going to this restaurant for years. Very friendly staff and excellent food. Love the new renovations, a very fine dining experience.
food taste less cold and gross
Very sorry to write such a review, but i will never take my family back to this restaurant. The atmosphere was dirty. The kitchen appeared dirty while walking past. The service was terrible, now let's talk food... it was likely the worst chinese i have ever had. Please read this review and take advice. Do not take your family here. I truly am sorry, but if they cared for business they would make the changes to enhance. Never again!! I'm still feeling nauseous!!
Huge buffet! Arrived at 7pm and choose the $11.95 buffet (eat all you like) and had a coke so, for 2 we paid $35 (drinks $2.50 each, $3.50 tax, tip for great service $5) grand total $37! I had rice and chicken skewers (tender and delicious) Mixed veggies - bok choy, broccolli, onions, mushrooms etc) then I has lots of nice farmed shrimp with small squiddies and more rice and bean sprouts and veggies. My wife had a few spring rolls and egg rolls, rice and veggie and then cake and ice cream to finish. The waitress was very helpful and great at her job. The ambiance was young family clean and air conned. The squealing kids were a bit noisy but they're very welcome, it seems. I was the only one wailing to myself about the screams... I'd go back again in a heartbeat. Lovely fish tank at the entrance with cute swimmers on view! There was a big roast of beef on the carving board and it was a help-yourself deal. I saw one big guy slice off what I guessed at about 500g! I couldn't handle more than two heaped plates of the fresh, tasty food! I'm salivating just thinking about it all. Must be lunch time!! They have chopstick and I got a fine bowl of hot sauce as quick as a flash when I ordered it!
This food was horrible. Everything looked dried out. The poor miserable piece of sushi....who knows how long it had been sitting there? Dirty, needs renovations...usually acceptable in a restaurant if the food is at least somewhat decent. I'm an Asian dude, and have had my share of Asian food, and been to plenty of buffets, so I know what I'm talkin' bout.
Pros: Portion size is HUGE - will definitely have leftover to last you 2 or 3 meals The service was friendly Included almond cookies for free (most places just give fortune cookies which they did as well) Cons - Rice which they charge $1.50 per carton was on dry and crusty side - General Tso's Chicken which is suppose to be one of their specialty did not taste like the usual - tasted almost like Chicken Balls (yes, that much puffy batter) but with a different sauce - very soggy looking and tasting - Singapore Noodles - barely had any meat in it - also asked for extra spicy but was very bland tasting - It's sad when the vegetable dish is the tastiest meal of the order - too many onion pieces though compared to any other vegetable Other indicators - the place was dead (maybe 2-3 tables) on a Saturday night - had a peek at their buffet selection and it was quite pitiful - did not see any Asian patrons either.
Very disappointing meal. We went to the Saturday lunch buffet of $8.49. The egg rolls and spring rolls were terrible. The filling did not taste fresh but of stale bean sprouts. The area near the buffet area had an unpleasant odor. When we were there at noon, the trays had barely any food. I love Asian food and have gone to many restaurants and this was the worst. I could have fresher food at a food court. However, the server was very pleasant and attentive.
My friends chose the place. All I ate was shrimp, sushi and vegetables but they were great nonetheless. I think the entire place should redecorate though-
I was hoping for more authentic Chinese items like bok choy in the veggies rather than plain ole broccoli. Nice to see the Chinese style BBQ pork at the buffet, though it was a bit dry. Waitress was very nice and attentive. It wasn't crowded for a late AM Sunday. Would be nice to see some "dim sum" style dishes for a Sunday but maybe Kingstonians wouldn't like it. Overall, it met my cravings but I've had better.
good place and food...but not better or worst than others
Wow, the reviews vary so greatly. I think its good, very good. I would definently go there again. Waitress was kind, and everything was clean. Still don't know how people can give it a 1 then a 10. Wow.
As usual, we ordered the number 4A combo for pick-up. It is simply the best Chinese food we've found so far in Kingston and the portions are incredibly generous. The kids love it! When I told my daughter we were having Lee Garden Chinese food she actually hugged me! Plus some of the take-out items come in very well done rectangular, re-useable plastic containers. A nice bonus!
the people behind us got a free meal because they found something in their food. the owner came to talk to them aand told them to "keep it on the downlow'. the food wasn't very good and the service was slow.
In general we're not big fans of buffets but we decided to give Lee Garden a try. It turned out really well - a good variety of dishes and tasty food, especially the roast pork; thin noodles; beef and mushrooms; and green beans; even the chicken balls were yummy. Everything very clean, plus the hostess was friendly and attentive. Overall, really good food and great value.
Service prompt - dishes removed quickly Water glasses topped up as needed without asking. Food warm, large selection of food. Best overall buffet in Kingston. Have visited many times with groups of 2 to 12 and have not had a bad experience yet. Bathrooms have always been clean.
that restaurant is terrible........the food was dry.......no tast.....
The food was amazing and it was the best food I've ever tasted. I will definetely be re-visiting Lee Gardens.
