"A number of ethnic communities only eat a vegetarian diet," says Sukh Gill, owner of Vegetarian Delite Bakery. While many people assume that cakes and cookies would be vegetarian by their very nature, not so says Sukh.
"Just because there's no meat, doesn't mean it's vegetarian. We don't use eggs and we don't use animal fat at all. We do have some vegan products, but typically many of our products contain milk."
Boasting 18 types of cookies and products with 15 different flavours, Sukh and his team at Vegetarian Delite Bakery are more than happy to adapt recipes to accommodate a number of dietary preferences and requirements. "We are able to offer vegan cakes and we have options for diabetics. If a customer has an allergy to a type of flour or some other ingredient, we can usually change a recipe to make something that they can eat."
