It is rare that a small business unintentionally becomes an industry leader, but this is what happened to Nick Sims and his roofing business, Sunik Roofing, when he opened it back in 1986.
“I’ve been roofing since 1973, and my experience in the Houston and Galveston areas in Texas gave me a lot of ideas about the way a roof should be done,” Nick says.
“We would do four or five roofs in one day because Bostitch asked us to product-test their very first nail gun. When I moved to Calgary, roofers did one house a day, and there were maybe two guns in the city. I immediately bought a compressor and six guns and, within two years, we had an all-star crew going.”
